Why do you think we can prevent this? It IS inevitable.

We started this mess. We did not have to invade Iraq. We let a bunch of ideologues with infantile but nevertheless grandiose notions run the war. Iraq is now a tinder box ready to explode and inflame the region.

We have a moral obligation to prevent a catastrophe. Our military presence there alone prevent all out open warfare. We have our green zones in major cities. We have road blocks around known militia strongholds. We can prevent battalion or division sized combat from ever taking place.

We run with the plan laid out by Senator Biden and get NATO Allies, regional interests (Saudi Arabia, Jordan , Egypt, Iran, Syria, Israel), and International Players (Russia, Japan, and China) to kick in resources (soldiers and money).

Without getting into the politics of this, James Baker (the velvet hammer) has experience in getting disparate parties together to achieve common goals.

It is not all about the plan, it is all about the execution. Ideologues need not apply.

This mess is created by an extraordinary group of incompetents playing with fire.
