On an unrelated note, Nvidia just announced $200M of losses due to option trickery.

I'll bet this sort of shenanigans would never occur to a Canadian.

I expect there are marketing costs and subsidy to mother board and chip-set makers (because the package is sold as a set). I don't think it will be a big deal in cash outlay. But it was expected to be the response to core 2 and Intel's quad-core. It shows that AMD at the present time has no competitive response.

It is a cost without a benefit. And it is negative advertising.
