"and the taxes were cut too close to your ridiculous example of "zero" which obviously yields nothing. "

Reductio ad absurdum. You learn to do that when you live with a philosopher. My point was that many make the argument that a tax cut will always yield an increase in tax receipts. That is an absurd statement and that was my proof. If you want to make the statement that it will if there is over taxation, I don't have a problem with that. If you want to make the statement that cutting taxes will stimulate the economy and the growth will eventually result in higher tax receipts, I can even go along with that to a limited extent. That shifts the argument to how much of a long term debt can be carried without long term harm. Or how much and how fast spending can be trimmed.

But Shorty presented that as an absolute and Harris backed him on it. That shows limited understanding of the underlying economics.

The first cut was too big. That's why the taxes were risen to closer to the optimal point.

Nothing like this had ever been done before so it took guts to do it - yes Reagan had those - and the taxes were cut too close to your ridiculous example of "zero" which obviously yields nothing.

It took guts??? Yeah, I watch as the GOP wrung their hands for months trying to decide whether to pass the tax cuts or not. NOT. You are so full of it.

The correct tax cut in the first place would have been to the level reached by Reagan's tax increase correction.

By cutting too much Reagan made a mistake but smart as he and his advisors were, they understood and admitted to that by correcting their mistake.

Liberals would never have done any of that.

Like I said, you are full of it. The right is so corrupt it doesn't even know when its stealing. And its not just in this country. And when they are not stealing, they are incompetent and lack vision......Merkel is proving the truth of that statement as I type this post.
