Actually Reagan's tax increase correction vs his huge tax cut before that pretty much gave some evidence that the Laffer curve indeed is a very real thing.

First he moved down along what they back then believed would be the curve.

Well they didn't get it right first time, so they moved up the Laffer curve again.

By doing that they not only gathered some evidence backing Laffer's elegant theory but also roughly found the optimum point of total taxation.

At least as it was back then, which may not always remain the same.

All of the above is plain supply side taxation theory and not very likely to go away soon as the socialists including ours on this board ask for in their prayers. If they have a God that is.
