You say that "Smart people knew they were insane then."

Apparently you don't think that Eisenhower and JFK and RFK were smart. Cause all three of those fellows were in favor of our intervention in Vietnam.

Considering the MILLIONS of people that were killed or imprisoned in Vietnam after we left (not including the 3 million killed in Cambodia), I'm not sure our pulling out could be considered anything close to honorable.

The lesson of Vietnam seems to be the same lesson of Iraq. You DON'T go to WAR unless you HAVE to and can convince the people of the U.S. that it is IMPORTANT to their well being.

Bush has WASTED a war card in Iraq on an unnecessary war. The people of the U.S. aren't going to be willing to deal another one for quite a while and it will require some MAJOR convincing even then.
