That paints an unrealistic picture indeed, which may reflect your point of view, but which I don't presently think studies posted here will at all necessarily show. Sorry but studies showing lower IQ effects and memory problems have already been posted here. So its not just my bigoted point of view, but it seems to be a pretty well-established fact.Re: "you could have a beer or two or glass of wine every day and suffer not at all." True enough, though some would disagree. And you could have a mere hit or two of weed at the end of each day of the week and not suffer either, though some would disagree. Perhaps moderate use of weed, such as getting blasted daily on a mere hit or two, causes what I'd have to consider minor short term memory problems (I'd guess very minor at most, if such usage has indeed ever been studied). One person has said they just take a hit or two per day and the effect is mild. Perhaps such use might have little effect - if there are many people who use it like that. Which I doubt - jmo there. Perhaps moderate use of alcohol doesn't do the same. Hey, they are different drugs. But obviously, alcohol harms when overused in multiple ways, including memory problems (including total memory loss of events while drunk, something marijuana I'm confident has never been shown to cause), and it literally kills in multiple ways. Marijuana when overused simply doesn't cause anything close to the problems alcohol does. That may well be true. Overuse of alcohol is pretty bad and perhaps worse than overuse of weed. However it is true the big majority of casual drinkers don't overuse it. Re: "freedoms a fine thing but the freedom to get high however one wants just doesn't inspire me." If you understand the connection to the danger in our inner cities (and elsewhere indeed), it ought to inspire you greatly, I'd say. What connection to the inner city? If someone could show me legalizing weed would greatly reduce the use of more dangerous drugs, I'd probably have to favor that.If the freedom to get high however one wants doesn't inspire you, then shall I take it that the freedom to get high with a limited something chosen by the government despite its obvious added danger over something else, does inspire you? Uh, no.
