My largest donations these days are going to:
-Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors without Borders);
-a BC equivalent of the British Heritage Trust (they buy important wild habitats and historical buildings and preserve them); and
-a small Canadian organisation you'll have never heard of that does development work overseas.

I also regularly give small amounts to the Canadian Centre for Policy Analysis, a left wing think tank with which I have worked in the past, and the Western Canadian Wilderness Committee, an environmental advocacy group. Both of these will make me very unpopular with many posters on SI.

I've done well enough this year that I am going to make some donations to larger organisations like Oxfam with the proviso that the funds be directed towards countries like Peru and Ecuador and Egypt and Yemen where the companies I have made money from operate.

This is the time and season to think about going the extra step and donating time, items, or if constrained just open your wallet a little bit.

One gets a bigger rush out of giving than receiving, in my case anyhow, so I certainly agree with your point of the open wallet policy at this time of year. We must not forget however to carry that feeling throughout the other 11 month also

That post shows your class slan. Even though I am an athiest, I still believe I am my brothers keeper! And all people on earth are my brothers and sisters.

Those of us lucky enough to have life easier than others have an obligation to help those less fortunate. That is my religion and I have always conducted my life with great seriousness to that idea.

I give to: ACLU, Amnesty International, DEM party-lol, Doctors Withour boarders, Wlater conkrites org and a few others.

Well know worldwide.

nwmedicalteams.org

One of the best worldwide disaster relief organizations.

Listed below are some links to a food charity program that my wife and I are currently most active in both for donations and time. It is being ran across the nation and food goes directly to young children at schools where teachers can easily recognize need and hunger:
