Well, which version of the QC die is being used? A0? A1? A2?

But even assuming 283 mm^2, that picture gives a shrink factor of only .74 for the core area, if it is outlined correctly.

Rev G appears to have an *overall* shrink factor of about .68

Assuming that roughly, Rev F 512K L2 x 2 parts are 50% core, that might work:

183 mm ^2 --> 91.5 mm^2 of core + 91.5 mm^2 of "other".

91.5 * .74 = 67.7 mm^2 of Rev G core.

125 - 68 = 57 mm^2 of Rev G other.

57 / 91.5 = .62 shrink factor for other stuff

Might be roughly what is going on in Rev G, then. So why would the core logic only shrink by 3/4ths? What does that say about the process?

Thanks Hans! Do you know the size of Brisbane? Or can you perhaps give an estimate.

I spoke with CJ (he send me a PM concerning this; I'm using some of his figures because they look good). We think Brisbane size could be somewhere along the following lines:
Barcelona:    283
L3: 50
Added FP: 8
Stripped QC: 225 (4 cores + 4*512KB + full xbar etc...)

Brisbane: 113 (225/2)
This is a bit rough as you can't divide xbar etc... by a factor two, but the Barcelona xbar + htt3 ports + added DDR3 logic is WAY bigger than comparable functionality in rev G. We're not clear on it but feel it might be likely that the Inq estimate of 12x mm^2 for Brisbane was wrong. Can you put in the details for us?

Regards,

Rink
