Hello Mqurice. I copied the data (below) on Annual Mean Growth Rate in ppm of CO2 at Mauna Loa, Hawaii from cmdl.noaa.gov I graphed the data in Excel and plotted a linear regression line. Using a sophisticated mathematical technique (eyeballing) it appears that linear regression appears to fit the data almost perfectly, certainly better than exponential or power series. The slope of the regression line indicates a small annual increase in additional CO2 of 0.0275 ppm/yr. Another thing to keep in mind is that the temperature effect of atmospheric carbon dioxide is logarithmic, there is a diminishing response as you keep adding more. "So you are saying [they are saying] that over the past five years, CO2 concentration has increased by 8 ppm per year, for a total of 40 ppm increase. 2% of 380ppm = 8 ppm x 5 = 40 ppm" If it went up 2 PPM last year, a 2% increase would be 2.04 PPM this year.
