Take a trip to Antarctica, where massive portions of ice are breaking off and floating away to melt.

Actually, in the interior, the ice level is increasing at a greater extent than the amount of peripheral break off...

But just out of curiosity, what would you propose as a solution to this "irreversible damage" problem? You do know that China, for example, doesn't give a rat's ass about Kyoto or Al Gore or any touchy feely doomsaying. They're building CO2 emitting coal plants and putting cars on the road at a record rate and will pass the US in fossil fuel based energy usage in the not to distant future. India's growing gangbusters, too, and using commensurate amounts of energy in the process.

The rest of the world will continue to develop as well. Carbon based energy usage will continue to increase. Windmills and tooth fairies won't change that fact. So? What do you propose as a realistic solution to the environmentally disastrous problem that, in your opinion, the world faces? Hmm?
