Time to get off oil and coal permanently. Starting with no longer needing Arab oil. The GOP needs to stop selling out to Big Oil and polluters. They are bought and paid for right now. The gouging we have seen during Bush's terms is outrageous. It's the biggest ripoff scheme in world history. It is very corrupt and damaging to our future.

Our environment is precious. for all living things. It has been badly damaged already. Now we need to start reversing that. Brazil got 80% off oil in 15 years and we can do the same. It just take honest leadershiup and courage to stand up to the corrupt oil monopoly and their allies.

This should not be a partisan issue. If the GOP would stop taking money from big oil and polluters then we could all unite and do the right thing now.

Yes, it is a problem that requires a multfaceted solution. Setting a realistic goal of reduction in the increase of emissions will show that it can be done.

One of my old bosses works for a company that makes software to facilitate the trading of pollution credits. Don't know if it includes CO2 emissions, but don't think we're there yet. Just a shell game, maybe, but creates some incentive for lower polluting technologies, and enables a short term goal.

Make an economy around ecology, and people will work towards that goal. Capitalism at its finest - people make money and do positive things.

Clean energy could also create a million new jobs in the US. But the Japanese and the Euros are already ahead of us. Why? Because they don't have leaders who are in bed with big oil. Only reason.

The only losers in this are Exxon and OPEC. Everyone else wins.

Oil is still going to be a profitable business, but mainly for lubricants and plastic.

Bushies Want To Put Lead Back in Gasoline
commondreams.org

Believe it or not, folks, with all the trouble they've caused, Bushies still make it a priority to listen when lobbyists of poisonous chemicals come to them with dreams of re-polluting the air, killing babies and bald eagles. That is a Bushie priority, far more important than giving us affordable health care, giving our troops body armor or making sure Osama Bin Laden is stopped.
