If they add tax to cars that get poor mileage, those revenues will just go to the general fund, no matter what the pols tell you where it is going. Just like all the states lotteries where they say it's going to the schools. The wording in the bill just throws the money into the general fund. Don't be so Naive.

Mindmeld, > I love the price of oil being high

Then you should LOVE the Bush administration, Republicans, and Muslim Middle Eastern countries:

> John, one interesting thing that the Bush Administration, Republicans, and Muslim Middle Eastern countries have in common is that they all love the high price of oil. Bush refuses to do anything to get off oil and the Arabs are talking about production cuts, which both conspire to keep oil prices high.

The only difference is that you'd rather see the oil money go toward alternative energy instead of into the pockets of the oil barrons and sheiks.

By the way, I'm sure OPEC realizes this as well. They aren't stupid; they are well aware that any effort to keep prices high will encourage the movement toward alternative fuels.
