Do a Google search on "yellow dust storms."

I am well aware of the expansion of the Gobi due to deforestation that is now encroaching on Bejing. In reaction, the Chinese are planting hundreds of thousands if not millions of trees. Remember, unlike Americans who found a fertile, empty land to fill, the Chinese have occupied their land since the beginning of time.....I suspect they are much more sensitive to their environment than we were/are. Not making them into ecological saints......the diversion of the Yangtze to the thirsty north and the building of the world's largest dam are disturbing......but from what I read, they are not oblivious to environmental issues either.
