>>offer a 4 star promotion to the one that comes up with a plan to win this conflict<<

So you think there is someone out there with a secret plan to win the war in one week? After one week Al Qaeda will be crushed, and the Sunni will make peace with the Shia?

Particularly strange that you would cite Israel as an example of success, given the recent debacle in Lebanon. The Israeli leadership bragged that they would clean Hezbullah out of Lebanon, but weeks later Hezbullah was still firing waves of rockets into Israel.

Reality is that the roots of this conflict have been growing for decades if not centuries and there is no hope or end in sight given the current political players and there lack of collective will.

Reality is that humans are the bloodiest of all animals.

Get used to it. Mankind has always had war and with over 50 countries involved in armed conflicts going on world-wide today, war is not going to end anytime soon.

The results of war are not always immediately visible.
Unfortunately we have lost what will likely prove to be the most important battle we were ever in. That being the war to control WMDs.
