He seems like a decent and principled person. We need more in the running like him.

I don't know enough about him, but I have similar impressions of Obama.

I don't consider him an "empty suit", but the tendency in American politics is to pick someone with maximum charisma and promotability as a Presidential candidate. With the Bushwanker, enroute to becoming President, there was discussion that he was a "good" candidate because a lot of Americans would think he would be a good guy to sit down with for a beer. (of course he didn't drink any more).

The Ruling Elite of this country (whoever exactly they may be), probably via their point-person in the DLC of Rahm Emmanuel, want to supply a candidate to you who:

-- will look good
-- will do what they want

ABSOLUTELY COUNT ON them supplying a prime candidate who will meed these prerequisites. Based on the hype Obama is now receiving from the Captive National Press, I suspect that Obama is A candidate of the Ruling Elite because:

-- he does look good
-- probably can be dominated relatively easily

A TRUE AMERICAN PRESIDENT coming out of the 08 elections will require to be:

-- absolutely brilliant
-- utterly resourceful
-- already enormously experienced
-- with rock-solid personal integrity
-- 1000% honest
-- NOT in in for the money
-- an International Diplomat respected worldwide
-- defender of the Constitution/Bill of Rights who will ROLL BACK the Bushwanker's disgraceful transgressions.

and more! On top of that he/she must have a good measure of personal charisma.

This is not a profile of an Obama or a Mrs. Clinton or a
John Kerry or a John Edwards.

Al Gore is the closest person I can think of. Who else?

Namaste!

Jim

Gore might run if he sees the right opening but he's showing no rush to make any decision, nor any particular passion for it. That could change but it hasn't yet.

If Gore were to run I think he'd get the nomination. From any of them. If he doesn't run then it's a toss-up in a crowded field and anything could happen.
