just over 1V Deerhound is not going to be compatible with current mobo's that are designed for higher voltage and lower current.

Got a link for that?

That is, are you sure the socket 1207 specs do not include this case, even if it is not used now?

OTOH, Maybe the 120W Barcelona is not plug'n'play, but the 95W and 68W parts will be? Then AMD could probably still make the claim...

The 2.7 to 2.9 GHz AMD Quad cores will be 125W.

Simple calculation: 1.25V x 100A = 125 Watt

So like always: A lot of FUD about nothing......

0.8v has been used by undervolters on K8 based boards and newer 939 chips have been given an arbitrary voltage limit. The motherboard will work at lower voltages but presumably AMD Marketing/Sales asked for the limit presumably to keep enthusiasts from canablizing mobile part sales for use in quiet desktop PCs.

silentpcreview.com ,
silentpcreview.com , and many other threads and articles would show you many people using 0.8v either permanently or temporarily depending on the need for processing power.

If 754, 939, and AM2 boards will do down to 0.8v why do you expect a need for new motherboards to handle 1.0v?
