you:

Intel could very well be producing more 45-nm CPUs in Q4 07 than AMD will be producing 65-nm CPUs from FAB38.

me:

I suppose that you've considered that AMD will have to put the 45nm equipment somewhere? Just a wild guess, but fab38 seems somehow logical. Why would AMD want to update fab30 to 65nm when 45nm will follow so soon? Perhaps there's more than meets the eye. Maybe producing on 90nm might be the most cost effective thing to do for older products that aren't going to be transitioned? Maybe there might be some chipset manufacturing going on in fab30?

How come it is that you guys don't ever see anything except from an INTC point of view?

As far as capacity goes Hector doesn't seem worried and for now that's good enough for me. Interesting though he did mention the NY fab in response to one question about INTC/AMD over capacity and AMD's growth plans, 35% to 40% next year.

Interesting that Rivet said that INTC probably needed all the capacity given the size of their dies. I'm not sure exactly what he meant by that, but I suspect there is more to it than meets the eye.
