The "global workforce" can't do labor in the US. So outside of manufacturing, there should be no wage pressure, right?

Globalization would primarily hit manufacturing sector. In other jobs like services I would imagine the big driver of wage pressure is labor supply versus job creation (demand). One reason why wages in the UAE are so cheap is that they are (ubelievably) still above what the workers can get in their home country. Pretty much boggles the mind that a maid would travel across the planet to get a job that pays $200 per month! But it's true. From what I understand, longnshort won't even get out of bed for twice that.....although I have no personal experience in the matter.
