Yep, retail prices are a joke for AMD's higher-end X2 CPUs. Very poor performance/$ compared to Intel's offerings. On the other hand AMD is handing out single-core 939 CPUs like candy. Perhaps when the AM2 shortages end AMD will be handing them all out like candy...to the OEMs if nothing else.

This is pretty much a performance per watt wipeout and this is a new 65nm sample. At least a 65nm sample has been spotted, I'll give AMD that much. Now they're still 14 months behind Intel on 65nm and until one is actually available it's 14 months and counting.
