To quote a great actor who will sorely be missed: "Holy Crap!" You mean a straight shrink of a processor that consumed more power than the C2D and was about ~20% slower clock/clock still loses the performance/watt contest? I don't believe it. I was expecting just the opposite. </sarcasm> Really, I doubt that it comes as a surprise to anyone on this board. What it does do, is give the ability to expand units at a time when they're a little tight on the supply side. The power reduction is a side issue, considering that we're not dealing with 100W+ processors (non FX variants). I have no problem giving Intel their due with a great job on CMW.

As far as how far behind AMD is with 65nm, I think 14 months is a bit of an exaggeration. Considering that Intel didn't launch any of their 65nm chips until January, I think it's more like 11 months. And don't bother citing the Anandtech preview from October '05 as proof to the contrary. They got hold of a sample that had been sent to a partner. I'm pretty sure that if AMD is shipping to OEMs right now, that they had samples in their partners hands a couple of months ago, or so as well. Anandtech just didn't get hold of one till now.
