Fine. So to get the Americans to take the construction jobs currently held by illegals, how much do you think the wages need to be raised? If its more than 20%, its going to destroy jobs up the wazoo, and increase housing prices. No thanks.

The big variable in construction numbers is not labor......its the cost of the land. In addition, any savings in labor costs more likely is going into the pocket of the general contractor and to a lesser extent the developer, rather than reducing the cost of the housing units significantly. For the record, housing prices are determined by the cost of land, the cost of construction AND what the market will bear.
