Chancels. Great memo.

Last year, I was in Europe renting a compact car. I asked what car I am getting? Mercedes. I found out that Mercedes is a 4-door Smart car. Drive around ~1000 miles and paid ~<$100 for gas (considering the gas 3 to 4 times of US price).

Why don't we have these cars here?

There is a much simpler way to cut consumption: slap a gasoline tax equal to what the Europeans and Japanese pay. As a bonus, the deficit gets eliminated too.
