Hmmmm,yes,but what will that do to the economy? There will be those that will say it would hurt the economic growth cycle which in and of itself produces a larger net positive effect

The deficit only gets eliminated if you assume that the government will cease its practice of spending 150% of each dollar taken in.

Trust me. high gasoline prices may be the thing to do to curb wasteful consumption. But putting a dollar in the hands of government is never a good idea.

A simple import ceiling would accomplish the same thing.
