To: TobagoJack who wrote (12844 ) 12/22/2006 10:17:00 PM From: Maurice Winn Read Replies (2) | Respond to of 218119 TJ, such a brief lovey dovey invitation which was not by China, but by Britain via the visa-free status of Shanghai established by the concepts of freedom intrinsic to British culture, and as documented by John Stuart Mill "On Liberty" and others who were not Chinese. Are there many such people down the centuries from China? The answer is no, even though I can't read Chinese. So, as soon as the lovey-dovey Chinese under Mao's mantras got hold of Shanghai and the Jews, the invitation lapsed. <jewish shops were shut down by mao, and the people allowed to leave china. places of prayer were destroyed. > How kind to "allow" them to leave. Very like the Nazis "allowed" them to leave from Germany in the first place. Mao and the Nazis had more than a little in common. It wasn't much of a holiday from persecution and pogrom. But let's not get distracted by you scuttling sideways from your disgustingly odious comparison of Jews defending themselves against murderous Islamic Jihadists, with specifically genocidal gas chamber and torture operators in Germany who were out to exterminate any and every Jew and succeeded to a horrific extent. Sometimes collective punishment is right because there's no better way, but it's not punishment so much as prevention. For example, the USA nuclear-bombed Japan which had been collectively punishing anyone they fancied in China and elsewhere. China hadn't been successful in stopping them. The USA had suffered enormous losses as they fought them island by island and across the oceans to the HQ of Tojo and co. I know your racist and bigoted nature stops you seeing the difference, but the girl called Anne Frank wasn't killed as collateral damage in an attack on some holed up anti-Nazi resistance guerillas. She was a girl, hiding, with a diary, for years. But they got her and killed her. The number of such stories is legend. < is collective punishment right? is israel not practicing collective punishment? did nazi germany practice collective punishment? do the palestinians have a functioning state, or exist in a large concentration camp made more dangerous by cluster bombs? > I haven't heard or seen Israel practising collective punishment, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did. Their opponents are happily blowing up Jewish children any chance they get [by the bus-full if they get a chance - think Beslan - that's Islamic Jihad for you and Jewish children fare no better if the murderers get a chance] and I mean actual children, not stone-throwing young thugs. Collateral damage is quite different from genocide and it's ridiculous that Israeli action is called genocide by anti-semitic bigots. Nazi Germany wasn't particularly worse on collective punishment than others of the era and earlier. Mao's maelstrom involved whole classes relegated to survival at best and death at worst. It was how things were up until the 20th century, pretty well universally, around the world. Maoris didn't even bother with the idea of guilt and punishment. They just killed and ate those who they could defeat. It wasn't a question of guilt or punishment. Chinese ancestor Genghis didn't assign guilt and punishment either in his rampages across Asia into Europe - it was just a way of life to acquire the necessities, conveniences, girls and to enjoy the fun of the hunt of other humans. As you might say, it just was. To compare Israelis minor collateral damage in their fight for survival with such vast genocidal megalomaniac conquest and Germany's Jewish extermination and torture programmes is so extreme and obscene as to be absurd and is not founded on any rational basis. Israel is nuclear-armed. Count the Palestinian and Moslem bodies from other attacking countries after half a century of existential battles. It's a very pathetic kind of genocide the nuclear-armed Jews are running. I think Singapore is not much bigger than the areas occupied by the Palestinians. They don't seem to have a functioning government because Hamas and Fatah and others are busy fighting each other over the perquisites of power. I think the Jews would be thrilled if Palestinians would start functioning like Singapore. No, the Palestinians do not reside in a large concentration camp, which is an abuse of the phrase when used in conjunction with a comparison of genocide of Jews in actual concentration camps. Concentration camps were run by the USA for Japanese in WWII. They were nothing like the camps for Jews in Germany. Just accept that you made a hideous and odious comparison. Such absurdly wild exaggerations make your argument look simply racist and anti-semitic. The more you refuse to acknowledge your evil comment, the more it exposes you for what you are - bit by awful bit. Contrary to your suggestion, the Jews are not lobbing cluster bombs into mobs of civilians in genocidal horror. They try to get those responsible for genocidal attacks on Jews. That is not an easy objective, obviously. Mqurice
