I don't buy into the finite pie theory.

And you're already taking more than half the wealth away when someone dies. Seems to me the problem is the death tax isn't being given back to the poor.

As for the middle class shriveling - Well only if defined by making an arbitrary level of income, and the shrinkage is largely because more people are moving up than down.
