The big jump in Real Estate came in 1979-1980. Then plateau and down pretty good into 1992 with RTC.

What? Sorry Jim, but this is just factually incorrect, and ridiculously so. I was heavily into commercial and industrial RE in the 80's. It really took off in '83 and climaxed in late '87 shortly after the Dow crash. The RE crash then was really in commericial and industrial that bled over into residential. The major Ibanks were saying that there was a 10 year overhang in office space and that RE would take decades to come back- you know, the same kind of tripe we hear on this thread all the time. Like I said, I love to hear this kind of talk.
