I'm all for Israel. Any collectivist effort is going to involve injustice and that is water under the bridge in terms of Israel. "Right of return" is not a thing which has ever been something that conquerors have given the slightest consideration. Usually, the beaten males are simply exterminated, if not eaten.

Jews have indulged "right of return" but on a longer time frame. They largely bought their way back, then, were supported by the UN and Britain within the British mandated territory. The Ottoman empire was still in charge when zionism was well under way.

Hmmm, who needs ElM's megalomania zone when this is available?

I don't think the "special relationship" is the basis of the problems. I think oil and totalitarian societies who possess the oil are the problems. Take oil out of the equation and all those states would fade into their deserts and scrape by on subsistence economies and would be very grateful to have an economic powerhouse in the form of Israel in the area.
