I don't think the bid/ask is that important to the issue.

These big option volumes happen very quickly, in very few one minute actions. The Nov. 30 AMDXD action is a case in point.

It's not like someone says: "I'm going to write 50000 contracts, let's see who will nibble."

It's not like someone says: "I want to buy 50000 AMDAE. Oh darn, there are only 15000 Open. I'll just keep jacking the bid up until enough people write them."

It is a couple of big players that get on the phone to work out a trade. That is the only way a big buyer and big seller can hit the tape on the same minute.

What kinds of players would cooperate in this trade?
