it will limit the risk but only limit it. good universities, some are located in very bad areas of the city. like un of penn. or un of delaware where there have been a few murders.

great neighborhoods, thieves come out from the city to rob and perhaps murder. i remember getting our house broken into decades ago. it was even on a cul de sac. cops said they will make random call to homes they staked out right off the expressway or interstates. hmmm we were on back roads in a development and on a dead end side street. cops said if no answer to the phone calls, then they will review it a few more times and if no traffic rob the place.. this is esp. on three day weekends. In my case they backed up a truck and took lawn mower and window air conditioner. too bad wrong house no jewelry or money etc. we were young family just starting out.

now if you commute on subway , or got to walk across town to work, you are also open to be robbed.

i don't buy the idea of peaceful people not being attacked by the violent. i remember a priest got gutted in the rectory years ago while the people were next door in the church waiting for mass to start. this was way out in the country where everyone knew everyone for miles around. seemed these two killers just happened along.

Maybe then they could live in a nice neighborhood and stay away from violent people.

Most people instinctively know this and do so. However: You can run but you can't hide. You had better be prepared to defend yourself and your family. Otherwise, you are at the mercy of any thug you may run into. You can't spend your whole life behind the gates of your guarded community.

Maybe someday, but not yet.
