He wanted to be more mainstream. Thnk about it......a sportscaster is a dead end job unless you're a total jock and not very bright. That's the sign of partisanship??? Damn! Talk about conspiracy theories! When I worked for a councilman, the part of the job I hated the most was the politics. Its why I only last 3 years. I know its hard for political types to understand, but many of us would not be posting on these political threads if Bush had been a reasonable president. What Bush and the internet have done has shone many Americans that the federal gov't has some serious problems and that we are on the road to hell if things don't get cleaned up. I know you don't believe that either......that's its the same old same old. And all I can say to that is let's see what happens.

Chuck Hagel, one of the last honest Republicans, to quit politics. leavenworthstreet.blogspot.com This is sad, but as a democrat I'm sure glad he's not running. He was about the only Repub with the guts to tell the truth about Iraq early on, even though he's from a very red state. He could probably win, but the GOP's deluded base won't have him. GOP moderates may soon become an extinct species. Then they can rename themselves the Gas + Oil Party or the Godawfully Offensive Partisans. Whatever.
