So, personally, I don't think that a sudden inexplicable desire on our part to 'enforce UN resolutions' was the primary motivation for our war in Iraq

I'm inclined to agree, but that was certainly our excuse, and it was certainly legitimate no matter who else had been violating U.N. resolutions...

Putting everything else aside, I think that butcher sadam insane was the best example of how an ego can get in the way of common sense... that guy over played his hand with us beyond belief... all he had to do was to let us look for those WMD, which he claimed he didn't have... but, he played a ridiculous cat and mouse game with us and tried to make us think he had WMD somewhere... if he only let us search everywhere we wanted to search, he would still have been leader of Iraq, he would be alive today, and he would be ruling in a stronger position that before... but no, he played games with us and as a result he only screwed himself, we went into his country, we removed him from power, and we handed him over to the new Iraqi government who hung that piece of human waste like the garbage that he was...
