BS. We've raised the "poverty floor" quite a bit during the history of our country. We should strive to keep raising that. It's obviously possible; our "poverty floor" is quite a bit higher than, say, Ethiopia's... why can't we keep raising it?

It is NOT OK for that anyone in the U.S. has to live in his or her car for any friggin' reason while Paris Hilton lives the life she does and hundred million dollar bonuses are handed out.

Let's face it. To that guy living in his car, people who drive a BMW or Lexus are "rich."

We are not talking about status......we are talking about what is common human decency. Living in your car in the 21st century in these disunited states should not be happening in a country as wealthy as this one is.
