The Canadian dollar edged 0.11 of a cent higher to 86.94 cents (U.S.). The loonie briefly touched 91.05 cents last June — the highest level since 1978 — but has drifted lower as oil prices eased from record summer highs, the economy slowed and speculation grew that the Bank of Canada would cut interest rates in 2007.
