You obviously think that OTHER people are the problem, not you. Otherwise, why not do the decent thing and take yourself out to the wild and feed yourself to some of those species who need to be increased at human expense?

<As someone who thinks there are too many humans on the planet and too few other species, I thought it was a great idea.

We control the populations of other animals. We are animals that also despoil the planet, and should control our own numbers.

I have figured out the perfect solution. Everyone who agrees with you could join the club. Then, everyone will be happy, and so will the other species.

I wrote, "Yes, I know that the one child policy was about preventing famine, but the thought of it, in action, the thought of the state using its might against an individual pregnant woman has always made my blood run cold, whether it's forcing her to abort or forcing her to gestate."

I understand that it was about the population statistics showing that they'd have mass starvation if they didn't do something drastic. And you understand that there were "problems with their implementation."

I have no idea what they should have done to avert famine. I just know that governments intruding into private lives, into the very private parts of their citizens... makes my blood run cold. It's a feeling, not a prescription.

Here, we have neither impending mass famine nor too few citizens, as it happens.
