My humble opinion is that there is a quid pro quo with the top military brass. Remember Bush came out for increasing the size of the military; the Joint Chiefs love that shit. In exchange they will support the "surge" thing against the wishes of their field officers.

Bush and Cheney have lost it... they are isolated. And I sense that the American people are going to be fried over this surge thing... really pissed. And they will expect the Dems to do something about it. We could be headed towards a REALLY serious showdown between the branches of government. Hope the Dems are up to it.
