Bush and Cheney have lost it... they are isolated. And I sense that the American people are going to be fried over this surge thing... really pissed. And they will expect the Dems to do something about it. We could be headed towards a REALLY serious showdown between the branches of government. Hope the Dems are up to it.

I agree....I too think a big showdown is coming. For the first time in several years, I think that the current leaders of the Dems are up to it.......so long as the battle stays within the normal parameters. The Bushes have kicked the Dems quite a bit over the past six years and the Dems have no illusion as to whom the Bushes are. I think Pelosi, Dean and even Kerry are strong enough and smart enough to keep the Bushes on the defense. Where I see a problem is if Bush et al decides to move decisively outside the Constitution......then all bets are off. I'm not sure what the Dems will do; I am not sure what Americans will do. Hopefully, it won't come to that.
