It is not impossible. Penryn is the notebook chip, Wolfdale is the desktop one. Look how long Merom lagged Conroe. Interestingly enough, the Wikipedia lists Wolfdale as due in Q307. So it does look like it is starting to slip...

I'm not saying anything. I didn't write the article and I don't vouch for it. If anything you've just pointed out a conflict in some of the article claims. Do you think it's likely that Intel would come out with a derivative before the actual base product?

As for me, I was just noting that Intel has consistently pulled in products over the last year, so it is not unreasonable to think they are on a roll. In contrast, AMD has been consistently slipping both products and process releases so it's not unreasonable to think they are on a roll of their own but in the opposite direction.
