Allen,

If you read the various books on Iraq mistakes, large and small, the list seems both infinite and exhaustive. I was wrong. Not exhaustive. There just seem to be more around each corner.

Not good news. Libya was supposed to be George Bush's Middle East success story.

As I and others pointed out on various SI boards at the time, Libya was not a success story of Bush policies in the ME. The changes in Libya had much older roots and were largely accomplished already. The media overlooked this history in claiming it as a Bush victory. It never was.

The success story was simply the end of Libya's WMD program. Libya putting up a statue of Saddam isn't really relevant to the argument.
