Leon, You are welcome to your bias. We all think based on where we are from or who we are.. It's hard to get past that at times..

No one cares about the third world.
I do believe I've mentioned Bangladesh in another post as it was which would be hard hit.. but not here..
I posted about the US and Netherlands because it is kind of ironic actually considering especially in the US case how much of the human produced warming they are responsible for, just a fact, not an accusation as per capita we Canadians are slightly worse I believe.

Actually there has been quite a discussion going on at the Uranium and Oilsands threads so I pointed folks here Subject 56361.
oilsands Subject 55547
Uranium Subject 18729

My bias is Canada where I live.

regards
Al

First world is what matters and first world countries have lots of fresh water.

On what do you base that statement?

I have family in Texas (Dallas), Oklahoma (SE), Arizona (Phoenix), and Southern California (San Diego) and they are all living on the edge (their water use is often rationed and quality is poor) when it comes to potable water. A few years ago, pregnant women in San Diego were told to drink bottled water by their drs. The chlorine content is extremely high.

An excellent book on the subject of water quality, quantity, and management in the American Southwest is Cadillac Desert by Marc Reisner

In regards to choosing a place to live, I would look to a location that has an overabundance of fresh water, that is creeks and rivers overflowing and glaciers feeding them. Of course, there are no guarantees for the distant future.
