Imagine if you got taxed on the gains... if you had to move you would have to downsize.

If they needed an operation and had no insurance, it might be worth it. They could always leave the insane S. Cal. RE market area, and buy a home in any one of a hundred less crazy areas too. You could join Steve in Arkansas just for the appreciation you'd get off your S. Cal. mortgage and own a paid-for house!

You've got little imagination dude! Of course, moving to Arkansas probably seems about as desirable to you as moving to Uganda! There are a lot more chimp-lovers in Arkansas, but probably many less Korean-Americans.

JCP, > 70% of Americans can benefit from the capital gains exemption on their primary residence if they've lived in it for two years.

Of course. All they have to do is sell their home and move. Too bad they'll need all of their gains to afford the next home they move into, given today's lopsided real estate market.

It's all about who's left holding the bag. Like Steve said, "Liberal logic."

You complain about liberal logic but there is very little fact in your comments above. No wonder you all were able to vote for Bush twice.
