No it's not. You only think this because the US military is in Iraq at the moment.


Huh? Since the 1960s, we have had almost continual involvement in the ME. Coincidently, it was around the 1960s we started producing less oil than we consumed. The more dependent we have become on foreign oil, the greater the American participation in Middle East affairs. It doesn't take much to see a correlation between our need for oil, American participation in the affairs of the ME, and the rise of Islamic terrorism against US and the growing concern over national security. And of course, oil has been a major denigrator of the American environment.
