Setting a standard isn't thinking for someone else. Other people will decide whether they like, dislike but accept or oppose the standard, or maybe they will just think about something else, in any case you aren't taking over or shutting down their mind, and if for some odd reason they stop thinking for themselves that's their own fault. Also setting standards is not limited to religion. We have all sorts of standards, laws, regulations, social expectations ect. many of which have little or no connection with religion. In fact setting standards is something you just did in your post.
