<<America needs a bad ass. >>

Like Kerry?

The dems have so undermined Bush that he's no cowboy anymore. We need a cowboy.

Cool it Uncle West.

What do you want? A small atomic bomb dropped on the problem by a macho president leading a macho nation?

You got realism. You got honesty. You got a pragmatist who understands the problem.

And if you don't like what Bush said, go back and listen to Durbin.

Then you will really puke.

That was an un-Presidential speech to the nation.

Why did he choose the Library? That forced him to stand. And it looked like the room where Clinton made a memorable statement.

When he said "When I addressed ya just over a year ago ...", it was off-balance and reminded me that while at war he hasn't spoken to the nation often enough. Kennedy in 10/1962 filled the screen with his presence. LBJ would start with "My fellow Americans" or something like that. I watched on CBS and they missed the audio for the first couple of lines.

How did this speech start?

If he had no confidence in his plan, how can he expect to sell it, implement it?

The speech and it's delivery are secondary. What counts is what we will do in Iraq. Will a "Clear and hold" of Baghdad help long term? TWT.

America needs a bad ass. Bush IS too nice. The only one I can think of on the radar is Giuliani.

I truly wish the Bush handlers would just leave him alone. He does much better when he speaks from his heart....The handlers have him so nuanced that it comes across poorly.

Brit Hume said the reason he was in the WH Library and standing was that so people would know this was a new presentation. Too bad.....if Bush told them all "thanks for your opinions' but this is the way I'm doing it...." it would come out better.

UW,

Lets face it. When Bush speaks his delivery is like a dyslexic robot (with buggy microcode and a bad math chip), dragging dull fingernails across a broken blackboard.

When he schedules a speech I turn off the TV, and avoid the news channels for a couple days to bypass the sound bytes. I'd rather read about it on the web instead.

America needs a bad ass. I was hoping W would rise to the occasion

It's gotta be hard to be a bad ass when you've lived through 7 years of withering criticism. That has to wear down the stiffest backbone after awhile...
