If you told any intelligent, educated, non ideologue adult that the New Deal was an unmitigated failure, they would laugh in your face .

Almost all of the "New Deal" initiatives were ultimately ruled as unconstitutional. That is why FDR made his brazen effort to pack the Supreme Court with additional justices. As late as 1941 the Depression lingered on. The Depression only lifted with the start of WWII and the subsequent war economy.

The fact that the New Deal was a technical failure does not diminish FDR's magnificent achievement in boosting the spirits of Americans through that painful decade. The Depression itself was a worldwide phenomenon that was beyond "fixing" by any one nation or leader.

No intelligent and knowledgeable person would laugh at the assertion that the New Deal (in and of itself) was an unmitigated failure.

I see J. C. Dithers has more than adequately responded to your thoroughly discredited version of reality.

No one here has said that being liberal is bad. What we have said is most of today's liberals have completely lost their way. They are no longer liberals in the traditional sense of the word.

They have tossed their morals & ethics out the window in their unbridled zeal to return to power. Most of their Talking Points are based on lies, blatant distortions & gross misrepresentations. The MSM is basically a DNC mouthpiece & a willing participant in attempting to intentionally mislead Americans in support of the liberal agenda. They are consumed with undermining the Bush Admin by any means necessary even if it will harm national security in the process. They embrace calumny & eschew reality anywhere it can be used to score political points & despite the consequences.

That list goes on & on & on.

And despite overwhelming evidence that all of the above is true, you, like most of your peers willingly choose to cling to an alternate reality. No wonder. Who could live with themselves knowing how utterly reprehensible they have become?

Let me start and stop with the New Deal. If you told any intelligent, educated, non ideologue adult that the New Deal was an unmitigated failure, they would laugh in your face.

That isn't really true.

It is true that a majority of people think the New Deal lessened the impact of the Great Depression, or even helped bring the US out of the depression, but that's just because a particular ideological idea happened to achieve wide spread acceptance.

In any case the idea calling the New Deal an unmitigated failure, is probably a straw man. It was a failure, but that doesn't mean it did no good at all. The harm was more than the good but if there is some good then the harm/failure is still mitigated.
