That makes sense that the wars gave the US a huge advantage over the countries that were ravaged by war. But Canada, Latin America and South America had the same "unscathed" advantages coming out of WW2, and they aren't where we are economically.

We're doing something right - it's not all luck of the war victor draw, although it was certainly helpful in the 50's and to a lesser extent the '60's. Since then its been a pretty even field as regard war, with us actually having to pay for the military of Japan and Germany, and much of the rest of the world in the non-Soviet sphere.
