So how does a society know if it is getting a little mangy or needs some grooming? By it's peers, imo, and that means other societies in this case. Just like individuals at a beauty contest, a gymnastic meet, a debate, ice skating, a whatever..They are judged by OTHERS, not by THEMSELVES.

So I assume that a societies "approval rating" by the international community is the best way to get a score to see how one is doing.. A person or society might not like their "score" but one should view it as constructive criticism and work on the portions that need work..
