"the ones who cast the votes aren't the lobbyists" Unfortunately, the lobbyist's employers provide the money to convince the voters who to vote for. A big problem with our system, that money = speech. A recent flapdoodle here in Utah, maybe the MOST Republican state in the country, was a local company who's owner gave 28 of his employees $2000 with instructions to contribute it to a local candidate and get around the individual contribution limit of $2000! The opponent complained. Result? Nothing. No laws were broken here in Utah. Unless a law is passed against the practice, it's perfectly legal. No plans are in the works to bar the practice in the state.
