What's the average rate on US debt? 5%? 6%? How fast does our economy grow? 3% on average, maybe 5% when we're really cooking?

No, Tim, betting that our economy will grow faster than the rate on our debt is a fool's game. Our debt will continue to grow and grow and crowd out more private investment. We need to cut spending and increase taxes to get rid of our deficits. Doing both would solve our problem faster. Ignoring the problem also does something faster: gets us closer to the day no foreign investors have confidence in the dollar. Then let's all see how pleasant life will be in the US. Believe me, you don't want that day to come.

Has the dollar's large slide during this Bush's time in office alarmed anyone on this thread? If not, it should have.
