Israeli military chief resigns ISRAELI Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has accepted the resignation of the chief of his armed forces after probes pointed to his responsibility for the setbacks of last year's Lebanon war. The departure of Lieutenant-General Dan Halutz is a fresh blow to Olmert's government, already dogged by a string of political scandals.
