2008: CNN debunks Obama smear
by kos
Mon Jan 22, 2007 at 04:00:11 PM PST

Not that it'll stop wingnuts from repeating the smear incessantly for the rest of Obama's political career.

Allegations that Sen. Barack Obama was educated in a radical Muslim school known as a "madrassa" are not accurate, according to CNN reporting [...]

The Insight article was cited several times Friday on Fox News and was also referenced by the New York Post, The Glenn Beck program on CNN Headline News and a number of political blogs.

But reporting by CNN in Jakarta, Indonesia and Washington, D.C., shows the allegations that Obama attended a madrassa to be false. CNN dispatched Senior International Correspondent John Vause to Jakarta to investigate.

He visited the Basuki school, which Obama attended from 1969 to 1971 [...]

Vause reported he saw boys and girls dressed in neat school uniforms playing outside the school, while teachers were dressed in Western-style clothes.

"I came here to Barack Obama's elementary school in Jakarta looking for what some are calling an Islamic madrassa ... like the ones that teach hate and violence in Pakistan and Afghanistan," Vause said on the "Situation Room" Monday. "I've been to those madrassas in Pakistan ... this school is nothing like that."

Insight Magazine is a right-wing rag owned by the same people who own the Washington Times. And the story was a two-for -- they were able to smear Obama with the false "Madrass" charge, but they were also able to hit Hillary's camp by claiming the source was a researcher in the Clinton campaign.

All of it bullshit.

"Kerry has already made up his mind. He's running."

You are really in the "know" about Kerry. He must tell you the skinny all the time.

You have been exposed. You so badly wanted people to believe you were connected...you know nothing, as has been pointed out so many times.

AS, you truly are your own worst enemy.

Now you are posting that you are behind the politically unambitious Gore who is probably not running...you are a lightweight.

Kerry has already made up his mind. He's running. But thanks to the White House's pre-emptive smear attack on him right before the election, and Hillary's people helping Bushies, Kerry has had to put off his announcement for a month or two.

Kerry hasn't changed his mind on a single issue in about eight years. Except for one thing, he's learned the hard way that Bushies are not just slippery and corrupt, they're outright political criminals who will do or say anything regardless of how unethical it is.

Gore didn't find that out until after Florida was called for GW Bush.

Sure Gore has loosened up, he's not politically ambitious anymore. He's enjoying life. He's the king of his pet cause, global warming. he has a great lifestyle and doesn't have to work too hard. So he's probably not running. Unless the anyone but Hillary crowd rejects everyone else and there's a big vaccuum at the top nine months from now for him to step into. But one thing you can count on, neither Hillary nor Obama will be the Dem nominee.
